The Glowpod is a spherical, digitally-monitored outdoor garden structure, which seats up to five people. Based upon Ikea’s “The Growroom” Project, it is designed to monitor the soil in planters and coordinate the onboard LEDs to reflect the condition of the soil. The gathered data is also used in an onboard virtual reality headset, which shows data from the sensors superimposed over the planters. This project is both an art installation and an experimentation with the ways that technology can make gardening and agriculture more interactive and data-driven.
